MT. DIABLO DISTRICT PRESIDENT’S NEWS
Welcome to the 2016-2018 GFWC Mount Diablo District website!
If you are here and you are a member of the GFWC, a family member, a Federated Sister or a community member, thank you for all you do. If you are curious about who we are and what we do, please contact me!
My theme for this administration is a Garden - Like a garden, our 22 clubs are unique - creating a bouquet of talent and proud support for our communities, state and country.
My Motto is 'Dig In' - I believe that if you want to make a difference you need to dig in. Many of our projects require yearly maintenance. Like a garden there is planning, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and weeding. We must always be mindful that we need to have "hands on" projects as well as giving money. We gift our hearts and our hands to our communities: some of our gifts have been in bloom for hundreds of years, some are brand new. We assist many other charities and if the job is dirty ... pull on your gloves and Dig In!
My Community Service Project for my administration is: The Police Unity Tour
I was born in Auburn, Washington. When I was 20 years old I joined the United States Navy. After 10 years of service my husband and I settled in Manteca, California. It was here that I became a member of the GFWC when I joined the Manteca Junior Women's Club. My husband Matt is a Law Enforcement Officer, and he commuted to the Bay Area for many years. When we had the opportunity to move, we packed up our three kids and moved to San Ramon. Lucky for me the GFWC Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club called me and invited me to join them within weeks of my move, and from one group of amazing sisters I was adopted into their club. In 2014 I was honored to become the GFWC Mount Diablo District 1st Vice President/Dean. What an amazing two years learning and absorbing the love for GFWC. I have so much more to learn, but I can always be found bragging about the unique and amazing work done by my Federated Sisters around our large district. I have a passion for all who serve the public, the military, our veterans, women, and children. It is my hope to bring a light to their needs in this administration.
